Recent High Zero alum’s and sonic luminaries Heejin Jang and Flandrew Fleisenberg return for a night of blissful acoustic sculpting. Each play a solo set followed by a trio with Roche.

Heejin Jang’s work manifests itself in the forms of interactive performance and sound installations. Improvising a score of live noise, she transforms the ordinary portrait, the landscape, and the noise of daily routine into something unusual. Distorting ambients, field recordings, and sound samples from the Internet, Jang creates a reverberating force that gets one lost in the echoes of invisible itineraries to the outer world. The performance addresses the moment when the countless struggle to establish a sense of connectedness eventually conjure up a monster that overwhelms the physicality of life. Heejin currently lives and works in Brooklyn.

Flandrew Fleisenberg plays percussion on an ever changing assortment of ephemera and modified drum parts coaxing texture and tone both familiar and bizarre. Attentive to room resonance, ambience and collaborator, Fleisenberg playfully utilizes sound and presence to explore space, time, and relationships. A graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston) with a focus in conceptual art, he is musically self-taught and has developed a cadre of idiosyncratic techniques that are all his own. Flandrew has been involved in the free improvisation sound and movement community since 2001 performing solo, in ad-hoc improv groupings, and in set projects in venues small and large across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
