No Land and Joanna Mattrey are incredible artists from New York City. Their work inspires us to feel and open our hearts. Join them for their Baltimore debut. They will perform with locals Jarrett Gilgore and Mike Kuhl. Khristian Weeks will open.
No Land (NYC) is an artist, poet, and photographer. She fled school to convene with the outrider poets, jazz musicians, hackers, and magicians of the lower east side artist community. Her photojournalistic work has been published by Levy Gorvy Gallery, The Brooklyn Rail, The Village Voice, The Indypendent,Bill Moyer’s Journal, and others. In 2018, she released Authentic Artifice, an art-book of poem and photographs published by Newest York. Her cinema-poem, “Crepuscular,” a collaboration with the poet Anne Waldman, premiered at The Poetry Project in 2018.

Joanna Mattrey (NYC) is a violist active in both the new music and free improvisation communities who’s playing often incorporates textural gestures, preparations, and electronic alterations. She is searching for moments of ceremony and ritual in a modern soundscape.

Mattrey has played with such luminaries as Marc Ribot and the Young Philadelphians, Mary Halvorson, John Zorn, Erik Friedlander, Nick Dunston and others among New York City’s Downtown scene.

Jarrett Gilgore // multi-instrumentalist, improviser, composer, saxophonist. He has performed/recorded with many amazing musicians including Anna & Elizabeth, Dan Deacon, Cass McCombs, Lonnie Holley, Laraaji, Jaimie Branch, Tashi Dorji, Susan Alcorn. Projects in 2019 include Heart of the Ghost, duo with Anna Crooks, duo with Anthony Pirog, duo with Anna RG.

Mike Kuhl is a drummer residing in Baltimore, MD. He has performed locally and throughout the globe alongside jazz greats Dave Liebman, Tony Malaby, Michael Formanek, Dave Ballou, Ellery Eskelin and Claudio Roditi.  Outside of jazz, Kuhl has shared the stage with many international acts such as Beach House, Arboretum, Cigarettes After Sex, Tom Tom Club, and The Ravonnettes. As a leader, Kuhl performs with his trio every Tuesday night at Bertha’s in Fells Point, Baltimore.

Khristian Weeks is an artist working with phenomena – sound, light, movement, and situation.  Since the 1990’s he has been performing and presenting his work in Boston, New York, North Carolina, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia.  Recent appearances include: a solo set in the High Zero Festival, Baltimore; solo exhibition at Golden Belt Gallery 100, Durham, NC; Artist Lecture and Performances, Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD.  He currently lives in Baltimore, MD.
