AFTER NOW: Nothing you've heard before

High Zero Foundation presents the third performance of premier compositions by the new chamber music series After Now. Graduates from the Peabody Institute have banded together to lead an assembly of professional performers for a rigorous calendar of concerts. The featured composers for March are Samuel Burt, C.R. Kasprzyk, Andrew Cole, and Mark Lackey. Also helping to organize and promote the new series are composer Asha Srinivasan and saxophonists Brian Sacawa and Rose Hammer.

After Now's July and March concerts boldly demonstrated its musical diversity and maturity. The composers' styles have spanned the spectrum of modern compositional techniques, yet none seem devoted to a singular school of thought. This series has become an experimental sandbox allowing the composers to take risks they might not otherwise -- beat-boxing processed by a computer and cellular telephone feedback are par for the course. Expectations are high for more collaborations with Baltimore's non-traditional performers, as C.R. Kasprzyk will debut a piece involving local beat-boxing celebrity Shodekeh.
