Thomas Buckner (voice) and Earl Howard (saxophones) -- May 16, 2009

Saturday, May 16th, 2009 -- 6.0000

Thomas Buckner (voice) and Earl Howard (saxophones)

Thomas Buckner and Earl Howard will present an evening of duo and solo improvisations for voice and saxophones. both musicians have extensive experience in free improvisation, yet the two have widely diverging backgrounds. As a saxophone player, Earl has a formation in jazz, but he is also a prolific composer and leader in the development of electronic music, especially in live sound processing. Tom, as a singer, began with traditional classical music, then specialized in early music, soon moving on to new music, where he has had an active career for nearly forty years, premiering countless new works and developing a unique style of vocal improvisation. For the past few years, the two have worked with voice an electronics. This is their first outing with the voice and saxophones, a challenging and, they found in rehearsal, satisfying combination.
