An amazing line-up here, possibly the best line-up since the revelatory performances in the court of Emperor Akbar.

The Red Room is thrilled to present solos by High Zero alumnae Andrea Pensado, Donna Parker, not to mention local alumna Allison Clendaniel in duet w/the brilliant and talented Bonnie Lander – as the vocal duo “Shorts.”

Those who may recall, Pensado and Parker were among the strangest and most beguiling performers in HZeroes past.  Pensado has left her mark on all who’ve seen her – unforgettable with Paula Abdul-esque headset mic and outrageously dark splintering tones.  Parker too, etched herself in the minds of unwitting audiences with devastating feedback and speaker manipulation.

These people are not to be perceived casually or in a delicate state.

More on Pensado:

Based in the US since 2002, Andrea Pensado uses her voice and digital electronics to create her deeply personal sonic language. She uses Max as her main tool. Her programming emphasizes the mapping of synthesis parameters into performance gestures.
The resulting harsh cut up noise, mixed with the strong emotional component of her music, occasionally, allows her access to unknown inner states of the self. Inevitably, her performances generate intense responses in the most diverse audiences.
Pensado performs extensively in the US and abroad. She also runs Sonorium, a series of experimental music based in Salem, MA.

“…Pensado’s style is all tension and little release…
the sound is simply fascinating…”
