Friday, December 1st. Doors at 8:30, music at 9

Hello, M.C. Schmidt speaking, here…

An evening of music from people who wrote to the Red Room looking for shows and they were so good I just couldn’t say no.

Stunning, beautiful new age synthesis from Portland by a gentleman who calls himself GALAXY 555.
As far as I can tell, it is flute based, but it mutates and synthesizes into deep-space grade sonority and depth. Don’t take my word for it, listen for yourself!

Also, another person who’s work I had never heard, but upon listening to and watching her work I just had to hear it in person and present it to our loyal listeners. Ami Yamasaki is doing an art residency in Philadelphia and asked for a show and her stuff is so…well, bizarre, intense and singular. Perhaps reminiscent of the inter-dimensional creature in the jail cell at the end of season 3 of Twin Peaks, but she says she’s never seen it…again, don’t take my word for it…here is an example:

To round out the evening, a new Baltimore duet, Smile Lines featuring Rozie Jordan and new local Greg Saunier!  You may know him from his band Deerhoof, in which he is the drummer.

Please come and support these amazing out of town sound artists with some local folks…in exchange you may hear something amazing!
